Wyndham’s new award chart, hotel by hotel
Wyndham Rewards switched to its new four-tier award chart on 15 September 2026. The old 7,500-point tier is gone, a 5,000 tier now sits at the bottom, and a new 45,000 tier sits on top. Wyndham told members that “thousands” of hotels moved, but it hasn’t published which ones.
So we checked every one. We captured the award price at all 8,336 Wyndham hotels five days before the change and again within hours of it going live. Here’s what actually happened.
The short version
- 4,605 hotels changed price. That’s 55% of the portfolio.
- 2,833 went up and 1,772 went down. Increases beat decreases by about 3 to 2.
- 3,722 stayed where they were.
- The average award night went from 14,463 to 18,289 points, up 26%. The median didn’t move from 15,000, which is why “most hotels stayed the same” and “this is a devaluation” are both true.
- Only 64 hotels landed in the new 45,000 tier. Wyndham kept its promise that the top tier would be small.
- The value of a Wyndham point dropped about a quarter. Using the same cash rates before and after, the median redemption fell from 0.67¢ to 0.54¢ per point.

The biggest story is the first row. More than 2,000 hotels doubled from 15,000 to 30,000 points. That’s more than all 1,772 price drops put together.
Every one of the 2,011 hotels at 7,500 had to go somewhere. About 63% got the cut to 5,000 that the announcement implied. The rest went up: 511 to 15,000 and 231 all the way to 30,000, four times the old price.

30,000 used to be the premium tier, with 707 hotels. It now holds 2,851, four times as many.
Who got hit, who got a break

China is the one big market that got cheaper: nearly 9 in 10 hotels there dropped. Mexico, Germany and Türkiye were hit hardest.
By brand: the midscale brands took the increases, and the economy brands mostly held or dropped.

If your Wyndham habit is a La Quinta off the interstate, your nights just got a lot more expensive. If it’s a Super 8 or Days Inn, you probably came out even or ahead.
What a Wyndham point is worth now
For a like-for-like comparison, we used the same cash rate for each hotel before and after. The only thing that changed is the points price.

The average got worse, but the best deals got better. Hotels that dropped to 5,000 now give a median of 1.34¢ to 1.62¢ per point. The 15,000 → 30,000 group fell from 0.72¢ to 0.36¢.
The new chart rewards anyone who checks prices first. The same 30,000 points can now buy a $70 motel night or six nights at 5,000-point hotels, so it pays to look before you book.

Head-scratchers
- Wyndham Frankfurt Niederrad: 15,000 → 45,000. It’s a business hotel with a sampled cash rate around $99.
- Esplendor by Wyndham Isla Mujeres: 15,000 → 45,000. Tied with Frankfurt for the biggest jump in the chart.
- The Aberdeen by Ovolo, Hong Kong is now 45,000 points against a sampled rate around $74.
- Istanbul went both ways. Thirteen Ramada and TRYP hotels jumped from 7,500 to 30,000, while Ramada Istanbul Airport Arnavutköy fell from 30,000 to 5,000.
Didn’t move (and should have?)
- Wyndham Grand Cancun All Inclusive stayed at 30,000.
- Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace stayed at 30,000.
- Harrah’s Las Vegas and Horseshoe Las Vegas stayed at 15,000. That’s Strip hotels at the same price as a roadside Days Inn.
Biggest drops
- Eight hotels fell from 30,000 straight to 5,000, including The Dylan in Seattle, Olive Tree Inn in San Luis Obispo and Baymont Montreal Airport.
- Wyndham Istanbul Old City: 15,000 → 5,000, with a sampled rate around $243 (about 4.9¢ per point).
- Ramada Resort Bodrum: 15,000 → 5,000.
- Days Inn Baltimore Inner Harbor, Days Inn Brooklyn Borough Park and Travelodge Niagara Falls: 30,000 → 15,000.
- Wyndham Dreamland Resort Bali: 15,000 → 5,000.
